We’re committed towards infrastructural dev’t to make Niger State fast-growing industrial hub – Gov Bello

Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger has reiterated the resolve of his administration’s commitment towards infrastructural development thereby making it a fast-growing industrial hub in the country.

Governor Bello who was represented by the Commissioner of Investment, Commerce and Co-operatives, Dr. Mustapha Jibrin when he met with the Niger State Coalition of Business and Professional Association (NICOBPA), in Minna, the Niger State capital.

According to him, the state government is currently rehabilitating rural roads with N2b to prevent further collapse during the raining season. The roads being renovated include; Lambata-Agaie-Bida Road. Minna-Bida, Minna-Suleja, while the Minna to Sarkin Pawa will be completed in the next two years.

He noted that the Ministry of Investment, Commerce and Cooperatives will strengthen her relationship with Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) to unveil strategic programmes that would boost business for the overall development of the state.

He urged investors to take advantage of the potentials in the state to do business as it was one of the fastest-growing economies.

Earlier in his welcome address, the chairman of NICOBPA, Alh. M.M Lawal disclosed that they are made up of 25 associations with membership strength of 350, 000 across the state.

Alh. Lawal further said that since its inception, NICOBPA has been collaborating with the Centre for International Private Enterprise (CIPE), Washington DC.

According to him, dialogue on the multiplicity of tax collection, security summit among others was held with CIPE.

He said that the major challenges facing them included; multiple taxations, poor road network, infrastructure decay, the high tariff on electricity amidst power surge which has drastically affected businesses, coupled with insecurity in the state.

The chairman appealed to the state government to provide an enabling working environment for business to thrive in the state.
